This is a teaser for my new book "Practical, Professional Self-Publishing Handbook". It is also a major upgrade to the graphics and cover design appendixes in "Writing In InDesign" done in CC. It solves a major problem for new self publishers how do I do the graphics? Authors and designers using InDesign to design books are often not aware that InDesign is the replacement for FreeHand as far as drawing is concerned. In many ways, it works better for typographic illustration than Illustrator. If you look at the cover of this book, it was all done in InDesign with a few paths brought in from FreeHand and stylized in InDesign. For book design, Photoshop and InDesign are usually enough, and commonly all you need is InDesign.

Like most of Bergsland's books on epublishing or Adobe InDesign, there is valuable information contained in this book (or at least the preview, which is what I am reviewing). The problem for the reader is that information is often repeated in many locations, buried within allegedly amusing digressions, or the syntax of the sentence obscures the authors meaning. Other than that, I find the author has a lot of experience and some good ideas. I just wish the editor had to distill them out of the text instead of me.Product details

Very good step by step instructions for book cover creation in InDesign. Thank you Mr. Bergsland for taking the scary out of a new software learning experience.
